Supervisor/foreman of field erection crew

  1. Coordinate and supervise work of ironworkers and welders on site
  2. Assign daily tasks to each worker
  3. Read and interpret erection plans and structural drawings
  4. Control quality and performance of each worker

 


Steel Fabricator /Fitter

Job description: Lay out, prepare and assemble structural steel according to structural steel plans and drawings.

Job Duties: Perform some or all of the following:

  1. Study engineering drawings and blueprints, determine the materials required, plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently
  2. Construct patterns and templates as guide for layouts
  3. Layout reference points and patterns on heavy metal according to component specifications
  4. Rig, hoist and move materials within the work site
  5. Assemble and fit metal sections and plates to form complete units of subunits using tack welding, bolting, riveting or other methods
  6. Set up and operate heavy duty metal-working machines such as break presses, shears, cutting torches, grinders and drills equipment to cut, bend, form, punch, drill or otherwise form heavy metal components.

Education: Some college/vocational or technical training.

Production Helper/ Painter

Job description: Operate spray painting and sandblasting equipment to apply protective coatings and paints to fabricated structural steel material. Assists workers engaged in fabrication of structural steel products.

Job Duties: Perform some or all of the following:

  1. Operate equipment to clean, wash, strip, remove corrosion, fill dents or otherwise prepare fabricated steel items for application of paint and or other protective coatings
  2. Operate spray painting and sandblasting equipment to apply protective coatings and paints to fabricated structural steel material
  3. Paint small items and apply touch-ups
  4. Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air and personal protective equipment
  5. Assist workers engaged in fabrication of structural or sheet metal products, performing any combination of following tasks
  6. Lift, position, and remove workpieces from machines to assist in fitting and welding
  7. Hold tape and rods and mark reference points to assist in layout
  8. Load, stack, and transport stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or forklift
  9. Clean and scrape metal preparatory to fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping, using scraping tool, abrasive
  10. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Production Supervisor within the limits of helper duties.

Education: Some college/vocational or technical training.
